Use this toolbar to filter audio recordings by:
On the Archive page, you can sort your results by clicking the headings at the top of each column.
On the Connections page, you can choose what types of connections you are interested in by clicking on the circle above each icon on the toolbar. The circle will turn blue to indicate the current active grouping. The default grouping is by religion. NOTE: We are aware that the Connections and Map views are not fully ADA-accessible. However, all the same content can be found in the Archive view.
To minimize the toolbar, click on the 
button. You can also drag the toolbar around the display page by clicking on 
. To reset all filters to their default selections, click on reset.
If, at any point, you want to save a particular search result or visualization, you can copy a direct link to it by clicking on the 
button.
The American Religious Sounds Project is a collaborative initiative co-directed by Amy DeRogatis (Michigan State University) and Isaac Weiner (The Ohio State University) to document and interpret American religious diversity through sound. Our online archive includes hundreds of short audio clips, excerpted from longer audio field recordings. You can filter through and listen to these clips using any of our three database driven visualization tools.
The "Archive" page lists all of the available audio recordings. The "Connections" page reveals relationships among audio clips by grouping them in networks defined by filter categories. The "Map" page plots audio clips according to the geographic locations where original recordings were produced. Once you enter the site, you can navigate among these three tools using the tabs at the top of each page. Our easy to use toolbar allows you to filter through our recordings according to a range of criteria, such as religious tradition, type of space, or time of day. For definitions of these categories, please see our Glossary. For help using the toolbar, click on the 
icon.
On each page, you can listen directly to a selected clip or navigate to a “details” page with more information, using the player at the bottom of your screen. We also invite you to visit our Gallery where you can tour curated exhibits on particular themes, sounds, or communities. To learn more about the project, please visit our About pages.
